Hi there! My name is Diana. I'm the girl behind LOE. I can surmise that it's perfectly obvious I have a fetish for books, and that book conventions is like a holy pilgrimage for me. I own a lot of books, too, as you would've probably guessed. But you're probably here to find out more than that, huh?
I play six instruments (piano, violin, guitar, clarinet, bagpipes, and the Chinese equivalent of a zither, in case you were curious). I'm the debate captain at my school and I help maintain The Reviews News's facebook page. I'm also an aspiring writer, science nerd, and a definite, infinite dreamer who does.
I grew up in China and moved to the United States a while after. I'm fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English, and is pretty well with French and Latin.
I absolutely love Zelda, detest Hawai'i (probably because I ended up being in the emergency room on Christmas day there), and am addicted to CAcafe drinks. I live life between anguish and revelations, and I'm just here as time wears on as this constant yet unstable thing. I think, that's why I love books, you know? Because in books, anything is possible.
I hope you, too, feel the same way.
Hello! I'm Julianna, or Juli, for short. I'm the blogger at The Reviews News. I designed this website and do miscellaneous stuff to help everyone out. Here's my official bio:
It took a Merriam-Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary for Julianna Helms to figure out her first novel, and about thirteen tangerines and one duck to get her to open the Word Document (true story). Needless to say, she’s known among her friends for her deferential productivity and ambition, and was a finalist in the Baker’s Dozen Auction of 2011, a popular online literary auction held by Miss Snark’s First Victim, one of Writer’s Digest’s Top 100 Websites for Writers in 2009. She is also the host of The Reviews News (thereviewsnews.blogspot.com), where she reviews books and tries not to fangirl too much to more than 300 people a day. You can find her procrastinating on Twitter @JustJuliHelms or stalking books on Goodreads.
I love reading because reading helps me escape, helps me see that the world is full of crooks and nooks that hide even the most prominent of things, and we just miss them because we turn away, sometimes without knowing. Books help me find those thing.
I hope they help you, too.
The Library of Epicness was founded by Diana and Juli out of shared love of reading and a shared hatred of pestering. Just kidding. Actually, it was founded because we were appalled that libraries and many bookstores often didn't have the book we wanted, and that our friends were wanting to read all these books we recommended but couldn't find them.
Our goal here at LOE is to provide friendly service, awesome books, and an amazing adventure. We want to engage with our members and work together towards a book-filled future.
As G.K. Chesterton says, “Fairytales are more than true, not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten."
